Part of V&A Friday Late ‘Mirror Mirror’ (July 2018), ‘I Only Laugh to Keep From Weeping”, performed by José Tomás, set design by Laura Nicol, concept and choreography by Grace Nicol. The performance “draws reference from vanitas symbolism, dealing with concepts of beauty, excess, loss, ecstasy and camp. It plays with notions of masculinity and beauty, and questions how the conventions of these concepts have changed over time.”
