Marta Espinos and Zurbarán

  • July 2026

Marta Espinos performed at the National Gallery on 3 July 2026 part of a musical curatorship for Zurbarán exhibition – the first major UK exhibition dedicated to the artist.

The performance was a narrated and audiovisual recital where the audience enjoyed the artworks while listening, in perfect synchronisation, to a repertoire specially chosen for the occasion. Marta performed pieces by some of the 17th-century Iberian masters who wrote for keyboard—Francisco Correa de Arauxo, Pablo Bruna, Juan Cabanilles, and Gracia Baptista, among others—interwoven with much more recent piano works that connect with the stillness and mystical spirit of the painter’s universe—or are even directly inspired by it—such as Federico Mompou.
